Book of Jenness Cortez Paintings Awarded Outstanding Book of the Year Gold Medal

TRAVERSE CITY, MI (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

?Homage to the Creative Spirit: The Paintings of Jenness Cortez? by Baylor University art historian Karen Rechnitzer Pope (AMI Publishers) has been named recipient of the 2012 Independent Publishers ?Outstanding Book of the Year? award.

According to Jim Barnes, Independent Publishers? awards director, the Cortez book, winner of the gold medal for most original book concept, exhibits ?the courage and creativity necessary to take chances, break new ground, and bring about change??not only to the world of publishing??but to our society. The masterful realist paintings by Jenness Cortez and insightful commentary by Karen Rechnitzer Pope, represent the most heartfelt, unique, outspoken and experimental literary and creative achievement among our 5,023 entries.?

Robert Yassin, Executive Director of the Palos Verdes Art Center calls Jenness Cortez one of the world?s most eloquent and successful visual conversationalists. Yassin says that, ?All art is a dialogue, a conversation through the medium of the artwork between the artist and the viewer. It is the level of that dialogue that establishes the intrinsic value of a given work. Among the many characteristics of a real work of art, two are most significant and define both the quality and significance of the dialogue. The first is that what the artist is saying must be meaningful; the second, that it is clearly communicated and understood. In Cortez? paintings, both criteria are more than fully met. The work talks to us at many levels and creates in us a sense of both understanding and well being. This happens because there is nothing arbitrary in Cortez? paintings. The choice of the painting reproduced, the elements surrounding it, the space the elements occupy, the lighting, the color, everything is carefully selected and orchestrated following a fully articulated plan determined by the artist . . . The paintings of Jenness Cortez make my heart sing.?

In the award-winning book, ?Homage to the Creative Spirit,? Cortez reexamines the classic paradox of realism: the painting both as a ?window? into an imagined space and as a physical object. According to painter Jenness Cortez, the artistic development for each of her works is similar. ?Every painting begins with a vision seen in the artist?s mind,? Cortez says. ?Sometimes the finished piece appears in the mind full-blown, and at other times it is amorphous??yet with some beguiling character that begs to be developed. In either case, between that first inspiration and the finished painting lie hours of research, thousands of choices and, of course, the great joy of painting. The process is organic. Even with a well-conceived composition in place, the painting has a life of its own and the best ones surprise even the artist with twists and turns that outshine the most clever of plans. It?s as if the creative spirit insinuates itself into the work, wanting to serve its own best interest with solutions that far exceed the artist?s original, limited vision.?

In this volume, author Karen Pope surveys and celebrates fifty-four paintings that display the range and variety of Cortez’ achievement. A key to the impact and success of each work of art is the skill with which Cortez achieves meticulous likenesses of everyday objects. This quality of realism, both sensuous and immaculate, offers exceptional visual pleasures.

Each Cortez work challenges the viewers? intellectual curiosity and celebrates the sheer pleasure of beautiful painting. She plays the roles of author, architect, visual journalist, art historian, curator and pundit to help open our eyes to what we might otherwise have overlooked or taken for granted. Each painting presents a specific theme, mixing straightforward cues and obscure allusions, complemented by references to other artists? lives and times. The paintings pay homage to the works of Albert Bierstadt, Winslow Homer, Claude Monet, Leonardo DaVinci, Rembrandt, Jan van Eyck, Jean-Bapitise-Camille-Corot, Johannes Vermeer, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Norman Rockwell and more.

By masterfully presenting iconic works of art in unexpected modern settings, Jenness Cortez inspires us to see differently??to rediscover and revalue our own creative power in everyday life.

Crooked Brook Custom Chef Coats for Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery?s Award Winning Crème Fraîche Promotion

Stowe, VT (PRWEB) May 14, 2012

Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery has tapped Crooked Brook, makers of the “World’s Highest Quality Chef Jackets?”, to create the custom chef coats that will match the look, feel and color of the packaging of their award winning Crème Fraîche that they will be heavily promoting in the upcoming months.

The Creamery?s Crème Fraîche won 1st place from the American Cheese Society in the Best Cultured Milk Product division in 2011.

New England Sales Director, Karen Daseke and the Crooked Brook design team settled on chef coat style #106, in Horizon Pink, 100% Organic Cotton Twill fabric with white piping on the collar, front and cuffs to complete the signature look that will closely match the Crème Faîche packaging.

The embroidery placement is as follows:

?Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery? logo embroidered on the left chest and ?Crème Fraîche/ACS/1st Place 2011? on the right shoulder sleeve.

About Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery

Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery was started by two young visionaries devoted to new and non-traditional agriculture, Allison Hooper and Bob Reese. As a college student, Allison spent a summer traveling in France. She worked on a small family farm in Brittany, earning room and board while learning how to make all of the essentials of what was to become her life passion: cheesemaking. Bob always thought he would one day take over his grandparents? dairy farm. Unfortunately by the time he finished his degree in Agriculture, they?d sold the farm. Appropriately enough, the improbable run as long term business partners began in 1984 during a dinner celebrating Vermont agricultural products. Bob was in charge of the dinner and desperately needed a locally made goat cheese for the French chef?s signature lamb dish. He reached out to Allison who was then working at a dairy lab and milking goats in Brookfield. Allison made the chèvre on the farm, Bob delivered it to the chef ? the dinner was a success and Vermont Butter and Cheese Creamery was born.

About Crème Fraîche or French-style Cultured Cream

After milking the cows, separate and set the fresh cream aside. Let the natural lactic bacteria take over, creating a thick, smooth, tart result known as crème fraîche. That was how they made it on the dairy farm in Brittany, France, where Allison Hooper worked more than thirty years ago as a farmhand.

When Bob Reese and Allison Hooper co-founded VBCC in 1984, their first product was Chèvre. Crème Fraîche, their first cows? milk creation, followed close on its heels and gained instant acclaim from French chefs seeking cultured cream stateside. It is made with fresh, high quality Vermont cream from the local St. Albans Cooperative, a coop of 500 family farms in Northeast Vermont. Crème Fraîche is exquisitely rich, with a cultured, nutty flavor and creamy texture. A staple of French Cuisine, Crème Fraîche can be used as an ingredient for sauces, pastry, custard, or as a topping on pie, fruits and soups.

Angie S.H. Shares Brilliant Design Concepts for Architects

TAIPEI, Taiwan (PRWEB) May 11, 2012

Informative, relevant and useful, ?Architectural Jet Lag? features the in-depth analysis of significant architectural concepts, definitions and frameworks. Written by Angie S.H., this riveting book shares a concrete idea of what architecture is and what it is not. A boon to every student, professional, and even to the academic world, this compilation can be a useful source material for everyone who has the immense interest in the industry.

In this book, the author perspicaciously outlines the correlation between the human body and the theological framework of architecture. This read signifies that, just like jet lag which is the circadian clock?s out of synchronization with the destination time, as it experiences daylight and darkness contrary to the rhythms to which it has grown accustomed, the same can go for the field of architecture, hence the term ?Architectural Jet Lag?. Angie S.H. suggests that one cannot categorize architecture as a free-flowing concept such as art ? interior design, creative writing or music. Architecture follows a certain pattern that is tailor-fit to the spatial needs of individuals. Architecture as a built environment for one?s daily life requires linear and concrete alignment with his paradigm.

Based on the author?s thesis, this study illustrates how architecture, as build environment, interacts with peoples? ways of living by analyzing some case studies with their respective scientific methodology. Easing ?Architectural Jet Lag?, this book introduces the G-ARCH solution when applying the Western advanced architecture to the Eastern culture and social logic of space.

Groundbreaking and compelling, the authentic ideas in this exceptional read will transform readers? perception and educate them about the various considerations in the intricate world of architecture.

This book will be featured at the Year NameofExhibit Book Exhibit in City, State, on Month Day, 20XX (Year).

Canadian Aboriginal Artist Peter Hawk Hill to be Featured Among Artist’s at 7th Annual Community Services Fair in Kingston, Canada

Kingston, Ontario (PRWEB) May 08, 2012

Peter Hawk Hill is one of a collective of artists who belong to a local area artisan group “Different Strokes” whom are sponsored by Frontenac Community Mental Health Services in Kingston. Along with Hill are other artists, like Hill, whom suffer from many of the various mental disabilities which are becoming prevalent in society today.

“We have to justify ourselves to ourselves” as Hill puts it as far as he is concerned. Different Strokes is an Art group dedicated to both preserving each artist’s dignity and self worth through individual creative self assessment and personal values. Heading up the group is co-ordinator, Randy Johnston, Don King, and Dave Bird, just to name a few. Different Strokes has promoted their artists for sometime and has helped artist Peter Hill to further his work in assisting in his participation in the recent “Touched By Fire” (http://www.touchedbyfire.ca/) exhibition, held in the fall of 2011, held in Toronto. Artist’s in the group create a dynamic unique to people in that personal expression of their works “speak to the soul.”

“We don’t speak through words, but through the strokes of a brush, pencil, paint, or charcoal,” as one fellow artista and friend puts it. Different strokes hopes to further expand its reach through new exhibitions, and other events, hopefully not only in Kingston, but to other places in Canada as well. Peter Hill fully supports Different Strokes in that he, himself is a survivor of mental illness himself.

“I believe we are all Human beings, and all of us should share ourselves to the world, to the benefit of everyone,” as put by Hill. Life for artists with disabilities is a hard life in itself, with the day-to-day struggle that they must endure. Hill himself has had many days of duress and destitution, both mentally and physically, for many years but still endures to this day through his personal drive and ambition.

Ravens Aboriginal Art Company strives to modernize and revolutionize Traditional Aboriginal Art through the collective of artists within the company. Pottery, bead work, and various handwork’s are but a few of the collectives efforts to both bring new and traditional art to the world.
